Ingredients
  

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (or crescent dough 8 ounces / 230g)
  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • 2 ounces pepperoni (55g)
  • ½ cup mini mozzarella balls
  • 1 lightly beaten egg

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F/200°C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Roll out the puff pastry to about 4mm thickness.
  • Cut out circles approximately 3-inches/8cm. Re-roll any scraps of dough and cut out more circles.
  • Spread each circle with a little pizza sauce (about ½ a teaspoon), not quite to the edges, then add a little pepperoni and mozzarella in the centre.
  • Add a little water on your finger around the edges of the circle (to help it seal).
  • Fold each circle in half over the fillings, then press the edges gently with a fork to seal (TIP: you can leave a tiny gap near the middle so a little filling spills out and looks scary).
  • Place onto the baking sheet and brush with the egg.
  • Bake in the oven for 15 minutes or until golden.
  • Meanwhile, slice the mozzarella balls and olives.
  • Allow the pizzas to cool slightly, then use a little pizza sauce to ‘glue’ the mozzarella and olive eyes onto the edge. We also like to add extra pizza sauce coming out of the 'mouths'.

Notes

  1. Room for Creativity: Encourage your inner monster artist! Play with different fillings and facial expressions to give each monster its unique personality.
  2. Sealing the Edges: Be sure to press the edges of the pastry firmly with a fork to seal in all that cheesy goodness. A little filling spilling out near the middle can make your monsters look even scarier.
  3. Double Batch: These monsters disappear quickly, so consider making a double batch to keep the goblins at bay.
