Why You'll Love This Recipe
Buffalo Bacon Wrapped Wings are an easy way to make your wing night extra special!
You can assemble them ahead of time, then just put them in the oven and bake when you're ready.
These wings are full of bold flavors.
You only need two ingredients for the wings, and three ingredients for the sauce.
These bacon wings can be oven baked or air fried. If air frying, add the sauce after they're cooked.
You only need 5 ingredients for this tasty appetizer.
Ingredients
- Chicken Wings: You need 1.5 pounds of chicken wings for this dish. If using wings with tips, you'll need more than 1.5 lbs since some of them will be discarded. If using frozen wings, thaw them safely before using.
- Bacon: You'll need to cut each one in half to wrap around a wing. Regular bacon works best, instead of back bacon or Canadian bacon.
- Hot sauce: I use Frank's original, but you can use your favorite hot sauce.
- Honey: Honey adds a wonderful sticky sweetness to the sauce.
- Butter: you need butter for that classic Buffalo sauce!

Wrap the wings: Cut bacon strips in half. Wrap a piece of a wing in each bacon half and place them into the baking dish lined with foil, bacon seam side down.
Make the sauce: Add the hot sauce, honey, and butter to a small saucepan over a medium heat and melt it together.
Oven Baked Wings: Pour the sauce over the bacon-wrapped wings. Place the dish of sauce-covered bacon-wrapped wings into the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through.
Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F. Place the bacon-wrapped chicken wings in the air fryer basket (don’t add the sauce yet), making sure not to overcrowd, and cook for 15 minutes. Remove the basket, carefully turn each chicken wing over, and cook for an additional five to seven minutes or until bacon is crispy. Serve drizzled with the Honey Buffalo Sauce.
For crispier wings: Cook the wings under the broiler for about 3 minutes until crispy and golden and the sauce caramelizes.
Variations
- Deluxe - sprinkle the cooked wings with chopped parsley and crumbles of blue cheese.
- Kid friendly - use less hot sauce or a milder hot sauce such as Frank's mild Buffalo sauce.
- Try swapping the bacon for turkey bacon for a different flavor.
- Make it even easier, but using a bottle of Buffalo wing sauce instead of making your own Honey Buffalo Sauce.
Storage and Freezing
Storing: You can store the cooked and cooled chicken wings in the refrigerator for up to 4 days in an airtight container.
Recipe Tips
Like your wings crispier? Just broil them for a few minutes after baking.
To save time on the sauce, just use a bottle of wing sauce.
Make them extra special by crumbling blue cheese over the wings after cooking.
You can use any type of chicken wings for this recipe, including fresh or frozen. If you're using frozen chicken wings, thaw them completely before cooking.
